Avilalta Releases HandWizard iPhone Application

In an online poker market in which players are continuously seeking convenient methods to sharpen their skills at the tables, Avilalta has released HandWizard, a poker hand calculator downloadable via iTunes. The application has a cost of $0.99 and has been available in Spain, Italy, and Japan since December 7th.

Avilalta markets this new product as the first poker assistant that can be found in the App Store in the category of casino games. It is compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch (3rd Generation), iPod Touch (4th Generation), and iPad. It requires iOS 4.0 or later to run and is 12.5 MB in size.

It comes in English, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish. The English version of the application is easy to understand and should not present any problems for users of any major language in terms of functionality.

Once downloaded onto your iPhone, the program displays an initial menu with the options to “Start,” “View Instructions,” and “Select Language.” From there, you are taken to a simulated poker table where you can choose the community cards for Texas Hold'em calculations. According to its creators, HandWizard uses advanced math techniques in combination with poker strategy and allows a player to select cards and know the odds of winning.

The program also provides users with tips on which actions to take in specific situations, which can place amateur players on par with advanced pros given some time and study. The program claims that beginning players can win against advanced players just by doing what HandWizard instructs them to do.

Using HandWizard for live poker play may be a much more reasonable scenario, but unlike other card calculators, it does not include the ability to store player information or rearrange live player seating, blind levels for tournaments, etc. It is strictly a card calculator, but can still be a useful study application for learning the basics of poker via the convenience of your iPhone, iPod, or iPad.

A note to poker players who are using a Windows computer: This program is not compatible with PCs. It will only function on the mobile devices outlined above. The HandWizard application can be especially useful for study and analysis away from the tables, when an individual has time to experiment with the card selection tool and tweak any of the options that come packaged with it.

Today's online poker environment has made the need for card calculating and odds programs necessary as players around the globe attempt to keep up with the most up-to-date information and techniques for winning at the tables. While HandWizard will not provide real-time analysis, it will allow players to calculate odds and interchange cards in order to view a wide variety of scenarios.

The program is developed by Albert Vilalta and is in its first version. It is rated by the iTunes Store as 12+ for Frequent/Intense Simulated Gambling. However, PokerSoftware strongly recommends that this program only be downloaded by individuals who are of legal gambling age.
